"When your knowledge is steeped in the light of faith,
then wayward people will receive light from it."

Rumi -- Mathnawi V:2486-2493

I am a musician who plays music from the Near- and Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa. I own a frightening number of ethnic musical instruments, most of which I can play passably, and some quite well.

"I've never known a musician who regretted being one. Whatever deceptions life may have in store for you, music itself is not going to let you down."

-- Virgil Thompson

I have a myriad of other hobbies that keep me busy, some of those are listed on this page.

I'm a person who chooses friends very carefully, and views civility as more than a nice idea - I actually practice it in real life.
